Many thanks to the Willows Cricket Club, Mr Dormer and his hard working team for hosting the Northwest 1st XI this Sunday past.
The Willows XI batted first, and it must be said, all the North West bowlers did their job well. Will O’Brien and Hugo Howard bowled the death overs and were able to close out an innings for the Willows restricting them to 106 for 9 off their 50 overs.
Nathan Cooke was in great form with 1-10 off 8 which was a brilliant performance. Will O’Brien took a 5 wickets bag in an outstanding performance and Hugo Howard 1 -18 off 8 including the big wicket of ex- Zimbabwe international Dion Ebrahim. A wicket he will not soon forget.
Brad Nightingale had a very good all round performance bowling well and batting nicely at 3. At 27/3 and chasing it looked dicey, but Will O’Brien and Joel Williams (Captain/Keeper) came together and were aggressive in their run scoring, taking North West to a comprehensive 7 wicket win, and deserving their Man of the Match status.
