The Y9 team got off to a quick start batting against Riccarton, but lost three wickets equally quickly to be 3/25. From there the ups and downs continued, the best partnership of 50 between Bailey and Lucas helped see the team through to 179. Lots of starts Baily 28, Tom, 27, Ben M 25, Lucas 21, but nobody went on to anchor the innings and as a result there were all out with 7 overs remaining, perhaps a good thing with rain starting to fall.
Despite a powerful individual performance from a Riccarton opener (44) wickets were regularly chipped out with the wet ball (Liam 3/27). Riccarton were 76/7 but the 9th wicket partnership built getting Riccarton to 125/7 from 26 overs before the increasingly heavy rain brought an early end to the game, taking away a possible win.
The highlight was seeing the boys making the most of a wet and slightly muddy field. Jordan had fun!
