Saturday the 26th November NWYC v St Andrews at Burnside High School was the venue for a major milestone for Will O’Brien. It was the day he would reach 100 wickets for the 1st XI. At the start of the game he was sitting on 97 wickets in a tough game. He was to have a major impact on the game taking 4 for 37 of 10 and taking him to 101 wickets with his last game scheduled for the 3rd December 2016.

On top of this further congratulations to Will O’Brien who has been awarded from 100 applicants the Matfen House Cricket Scholarship. Will is destined for an English summer come April, which is sure to rival our Kiwi Spring.

The culmination of a great 18 months where Will has worked tremendously hard to overcome adversity, innuendo and doubt. Along the way he has becomeNorth West’s leading wicket taker. He is unrecognisable physically from the Year 12 off spinner, having obtained a supreme level of fitness. A lesson for all young cricketers that hard work does pay off.
From the club Will, our heartiest congratulations.
