Burnside High School – First Match on Artificial
Last Saturday, 14th of January 2026, saw the first match played on the new artificial pitch, 2a, on the lower fields at Burnside High School. A match was also able to played on Burnside HS 1 the grass block on the upper fields.
The grass block will still need a significant renovation – but it terrific to get cricket back.
A massive thanks to Burnside HS grounds staff, in particular Barry and Steve, for all their hard work on the grass wicket.
A big shout out to the BHS PTA, Firth and the entire grounds staff for all their support and time put into funding and installing the artificial wicket.
A special thank you to Rozz Guillemot and Tracy Taylor for supporting sport and cricket at the school
North West Youth Cricket and Burnside West Christchurch University Cricket also need a mention for their constant support of our players and cricket programme – thanks team!
Looking forward to seeing lots more Cricket played at school.
Next project will be the practice facilities
